My Full Story

A Practice Rooted in Nature

I grew up beside the Chiltern Hills in the English countryside.
Walking through trees, swimming in rivers, spending long stretches outdoors β€” my nervous system learned how to settle in nature long before I had language for it.

That early relationship never left me.

As my understanding of the interconnectedness of life deepens, my curiosity continues to grow. I am forever a student.

Today my work is about creating safety β€” and gently exploring depth at a pace your nervous system can truly integrate.

The Beginning of the Path

In 2019, after watching an inspiring video on youtube I went to meet Wim Hof. His work with deliberate cold exposure and breath challenged conventional ideas about what we can consciously influence within the body. I spent a summer week in the Pyrenees, beginning each morning with his signature breathwork and of course plunged into my first ice bath.

I had experimented with meditation before but struggled to quiet my mind. Breathwork gave me direct access to stillness. It felt tangible and immediate. I was so impressed i couldn’t wait to share it with friends.

That week opened a door.

Exploration & Expansion

What followed in the coming years was a deeper exploration of meditation, energy work, conscious connected breathwork, and psychedelic experiences including Ayahuasca and 5-MeO-DMT.

These experiences profoundly expanded my perception of reality. They also destabilised me.

They revealed both a deep connection to life and the absolute importance of preparation, care, and integration.

As my inner landscape shifted, my outer life followed. I stepped away from habits and social patterns that no longer aligned. Alcohol stopped being a social crutch. I found new communities through ecstatic dancing, a liberating form of expression which more than met my desire to dance. My relationships deepened without substances. I spent β€” and still spend β€” more time in nature.

I began asking different questions about how I wanted to live and contribute.

I trained in Pranic energy healing, which sharpened my ability to sense alignment and, just as importantly, to recognise when a system, teaching, or environment was not right for me.

I did my first Vipassana, 10 days of pure silent meditation and really learnt how to quiet the mind, the depth of going within was nothing short of astounding. My relationship to meditation changed forever.

In 2023 I began formally training with Alchemy of Breath, a globally respected breathwork school, the training deepened my understanding of technique, facilitation and most importantly the nervous system. Allowing me to blend approaches into a practice I now offer with care, sensitivity and respect for the individual I’m working with.

When the Nervous System Speaks

After a trip to the Colombian jungle and my final 5-MeO-DMT ceremony, I began experiencing severe reactivations during sleep. Months later, this intensified into a prolonged period of anxiety and existential distress.

I had never experienced anxiety before.

What followed was humbling.

It became a direct education in nervous system overwhelm, trauma responses, and the complexity of integration. I learned firsthand what it feels like when the system is pushed beyond its capacity.

That experience reshaped everything. It refined my respect for pacing, safety, and trauma-informed care.

Discovering Havening

During this period, I came across Havening Techniques at Medicine Festival.

Its simplicity contrasted sharply with its effectiveness. I experienced a profound shift that day. Releasing some birth trauma! With continued practice, it became my most reliable tool for calming anxiety and regulating my system.

I later signed up to the havening training course, adding another grounded, trauma-informed modality to my work.

The Ancient Connection

I’ve become more fascinated in what modern science doesn’t yet know about healing and existence, I cannot ignore a spiritual element to life.

My curiosity took me to India where I enjoyed Yoga teacher trainings, learning a little of the yogic philosophies that have helped steer human minds for thousands of years.

Living in an ashram dressed in white, hearing stories from the Bhagavad Gita and their meanings explained by a wise Sadhvi. It was easy to fall in love with Indian culture, ritual and devotional practices.

Experiences such as kirtan show how easily humans can connect and uplift one another through sound.

The Himalayan Bowls

In Rishikesh, it’s impossible to miss the huge collections of sound instruments. Intrigued by the vibration and their healing properties I also studied sound therapy, particularly working with Himalayan singing bowls.

Sound has since become an integral part of my sessions, supporting integration, relaxation, and nervous system regulation.

My Approach Today

My work is about creating safety first.

From that foundation, we explore depth.

I work through the felt sense, building a gentle relationship with bodily sensation. This has been one of my greatest teachers and healers. The body carries intelligence, and when we learn to listen, it guides us.

I offer a calm, professional approach to exploring breath, awareness, and altered states β€” without overwhelming or pushing beyond what your system needs.

Who I Work With

I work with people who are:

  • Navigating stress or burnout

  • Living with anxiety

  • Integrating psychedelic experiences

  • Processing trauma

  • Seeking deep rest and reconnection

  • Or simply wanting to step out of constant mental stimulation and into presence

Together, we move at the pace of nature, I look forward to walking a little of this path with you.

Warmly,
Richard
